Watermelon is an excellent source of vitamin C and vitamin A. Provides a significant amount of vitamin B6 and B1 as well as the minerals potassium and magnesium. It s a source of the potent carotenoid antioxidant, lycopene. Of all carotenoids, lycopene is one of the most potent antioxidants; particularly able to quench singlet oxygen and peroxyl radicals, both of which are thought to be responsible for damaging DNA in a process which can lead to the initiation of cancer.
